CENTRAL BRASIL
Ongoing Throughout The Year
All trips are two weeks in duration.

Central Brasil is situated on a plateau
of 3,000' to 4,000' in elevation which results in a very pleasant
year round temperature
and a unique eco system with many springs, rivers and waterfalls
as well as beautiful mountains and forested areas. The capital city
of Brasilia is our starting point for an exploration of the region
and visits to several ecological communities as well
as wonderful natural sites.
Some of our tour will be spent at
the community of Ceu do Planalto, a forested retreat
overlooking the city far below. Another center we will visit is
Divino Luz, a community with an emphasis on healing
and meditation rituals. Several members of these communities speak
English and all are friendly and outgoing with rich spiritual and
intellectual interests. Many of them are also eco-activists. They are primarily
young professionals, well integrated into society
yet maintaining a strong ceremonial cycle and sense of community.
The rest of our tour will include possible visits to other healing centers and an extended stay at our privately
owned eco preserve in the mountains above the 400 year old colonial
village of Pirenopolis. This
unspoiled wilderness includes big waterfalls, virgin forests, awesome
canyon walls and lots of exotic wildlife.
In this very private and wonderfully
silent atmosphere we will explore healing and shamanic techniques,
learning how to work with the consciousness of nature to help ourselves
and humanity achieve health and well being. We will also explore
the hidden science of trance mediumship. There will be good food and fun in a relaxed
atmosphere. This is a unique alternative to our more formal group
tours. This will allow for a very intimate "one on one"
experience, custom tailored to your particular needs. |
CEU DO MAPIA
Late December to Mid-January
Minimum of 4 people needed.

|
The community of Mapia was created
about twenty years ago and is situated deep in the rainforest in
the state of Amazonas, Brasil. Surrounded by their own one million
hectare eco preserve, Mapia is a two day
journey by dugout canoe from the
nearest airport in Rio Branco. This is a journey that is physically
and emotionally demanding. Only people with ample experience of outdoor skills will
be accepted in this program. You must be in excellent health as
we will be "roughing it" in extreme jungle conditions.
The Mapia community is utterly "off
the grid". The 700 member community is largely self sufficient
and has an ongoing daily ceremonial cycle and community works which
we can optionally participate in. The main focus of this program
will be an intensive study of Amazonian plant spirit medicine and
mediumistic healing techniques aided by a natural jungle setting. Dietary
restrictions, difficult conditions, and hard work will be a part
of our itinerary. We will spend much of our time outdoors in the
forest including a night or two camping far from the village. Your
host, Michael Bailot will house and feed the
group at their secluded pousada on the banks of a small river at
the edge of the Mapia community.
This tour is best suited for people
who have already begun a deep study of shamanism, mediumship, or
plant spirit medicine. You will receive advanced training that will
greatly enhance your healing skills. This is a powerful transformative
journey. This is the first time Mapia
has opened its doors to such group workshops, which has normally
been available only to community members. We will have opportunities
to receive teachings from a number of Mapia's foremost members in
an intimate setting. We may also visit communities
in Rio Branco and Boca do Acre.
Our journey to Mapia will probably
also include sessions with Maria Alice Barse at her center of shamanistic
plant medicine, "Centro Medicina da Floresta", and furthur
studies at Santa Casa, Mapia's spiritual healing center. Our visit
will occur during Mapia's yearly festival of rituals where we will
experience a wide variety of ceremonies and activities.

CRUZERO DO SUL
Open only to pre-assembled groups of
four or more people.
Available throughout the year,
Cruzero do Sul is a small
city in the far recesses of the Amazon forest of western Brasil near the
border of Peru. This will be our home base for some exceptional rainforest
adventures in the region. The rain forest in this region is rich and very diverse.
It's high canopy jungle contains many animals, lush vegetation, several
Indian tribes living in traditional villages, and several shamanic healers.
We will be staying at a very nice pousada at the edge of town and will
make a number of day trips and overnight canoe journeys in the area. We
will visit an Indian tribe and may participate in a traditional
ceremonies of the region, camp in a mountainous area at a warm spring and hike in the
jungle, and visit the newest "Centro Medicina da Floresta" in
the community of Croa and study with a true shaman, Seu Francescino. This
region has just opened up for tourism and is utterly unspoiled wilderness.
We will visit Brasil's
newest National Park on the border of Peru, and be introduced to the latest
mystery of the rainforest....a treatment discovered by the Kambo Indians
of the region employing the excretions of a tree frog. In a treatment similar
to acupuncture's moxibustion, a small quantity of the frog serum is burned
into the surface of the skin with a smoldering twig. Recent scientific
studies of the serum in Brasil and the United States show that it has
the capacity to cure cancer, aids, and a huge variety of other problems
as well as acting as a powerful preventative antibiotic. Further studies
are now revealing that it cleans the blood vessels of platelets (cholesterol
buildup), enhances powers of memory and mental clarity and cures some
allergies. Our tours to Cruzero do Sul are shorter and quite a bit easier
than those to Mapia.
